Farewell South Thailand

It has been a while since we last wrote on the blog, but it is more difficult than you think to find an internet connection that’s good enough to even open our email without breaking down. So now that we hopefully have one, here are some updates from our last couple of weeks.
The time we spent on Koh Hai was flying and there is not much to tell as I was down with a cold and Chris spent most of the time snorkeling and was down with a cold after that. Snorkeling on the other hand seemed to have been awesome… directly in front of our hotel was a great reef where Chris dared to go out to more and more every day. At the beginning he was a bit disappointed about the diversity of species but on the 3rd day he got over his panic of Box jellyfish and dared to go out the 60-70m through waist-high water to the edge of the reef… absolutely wonderful! Fish in all sorts of shape, size and colour everywhere! From then on of course he always went snorkeling to the edge of the reef where it went straight down to the open and deep ocean… like a documentation on animals on TV- snorkeling through shoals, always caught between amazement and panic ;o) The definite highlight was an octopus with the size of 1m!
After Koh Hai we went back to the main land and relaxed for 2 days in Trang – a town away from the great tourism of the South of Thailand, where children kept pointing at us and surprised drivers got slightly out of line at the sight of us…Europeans seems to be unusual here. Here and after that in Krabi we spent most of the time watching people walking by while we sat in Cafés and enjoyed the action on the night markets.
We selected some photos in order to resume our time and say farewell to the south of Thailand. See you in Cambodia.
